PSG Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
